SBS Installation hints

When installing SBS 2008 (and 2011 now), there a a number of potential causes for the installation to hang, or alternatively return vauge error messages. It's not immediately obvious as to how to troubleshoot this.

One of the first places to start is the SBS installation log, located here C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs\SBSSetup.log

But how do you open this from the SBS installation, since there is no task bar, start menu etc?

  will open a command prompt. From there you can continue your troubleshooting
